Children’s museums play an integral part in the development of a child’s mind as well as offer a cost-effective learning environment for local schools. We at Busy Brains Children’s Museum are pleased to hear that Kohl’s Children’s Museum will be coming to Lake County for the month February to host a Children’s Museum popup in Waukegan. This will certainly help to briefly serve the children in Lake County.
But did you know that for the last 14 years, Busy Brains Children’s Museum has encouraged the joy of learning and discovery in all children through our interactive exhibits, enlightening programs in the arts, sciences, and humanities, and our Fall and Winter Family Festivals? Yes, Busy Brains is here all year in Lake County providing some of the best programs and exhibits for children in our area. Based in Lake Villa, Busy Brains has served over 40,000 families with our traveling exhibits. Everyday we fulfill our mission to serve the children of Lake County, and that mission is why we are hoping to open our permanent museum in late 2018.
Our permanent museum located in downtown Lake Villa, IL is 14,000 sq. ft. and will be used to house seven to eight exhibit galleries. The remaining space will be divided to allow for a gift shop, eating area, private rooms for programs, classes, and rentals, restrooms, office space, storage space, and a small workshop. Designing and building a museum is no small task, which is why we are grateful to our volunteers, sponsors, and donors. However, we are still in need of significant capital to help open this museum on time.
A children’s museum is a community effort, so if your family, your company, or your organization is interested in contributing or sponsoring please send us an email or call 224-381-0138 to get involved.
